Ipswich Town striker Shefki Kuqi has revealed that he knew he could improve on his form from last season and he wanted to prove it.

Kuqi is well on his way to proving to himself and town fans that he’s right after netting twice last night in Town’s 5-1 win over Sheffield United to bring his total goal tally for the season, only ten behind what he scored for two clubs last season.

Kuqi: “People were praising me last season and saying that I did well.

“But I knew I could do better. I knew there was plenty more to come. I scored 18 goals in 2003/04 and although I was not always a regular in the Ipswich side I was happy with that.

“When pre-season came around I was itching to get started again. I desperately wanted the season to start so that I could get going and show the fans, the club and everybody else what I can do.

“I am enjoying the moment and it is a great result for me and also for the team. And it is the team that is the most important.”
