Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle has said it will take a “silly” bid to take Town striker Darren Bent away from Portman Road.

Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle has said it will take a “silly” bid to take Town striker Darren Bent away from Portman Road.

Bent who took his tally to 8 goals for the season with the winner against Leeds on Saturday was subject to a £3million bid from Charlton Athletic which was turned down by the club during the summer transfer window and has been linked with moves to Aston Villa, Everton and Norwich City since then.

Town manager Joe Royle has not ruled out his sale but has said: “We are not flush with money, we are not out of the danger yet but we are getting better all the time and certainly gates likes the 30,000 we had for the Leeds game help.

“I am not going to say that if someone comes in and bids £10m for Darren then we will have any choice in the matter because there are other people to consider.

“But unless it's a silly bid, Darren will be staying with us. It's as simple as that.”
