Report: Wolves Vs Town

Ipswich Town missed out on the chance to move back up to 2nd in the championship 2 points behind leaders Sunderland after defeat against Wolves last night.
Two goals inside the first 25 minutes from Wolves were enough to seal the win and leave Town 3rd in the league behind Wigan on goal difference.
Wolves started the better side and it took them only 5 minutes to break the deadlock and go into a 1-0 lead when Colin Cameron got on the end of Lee Naylor’s cross and hit the ball into the back of the net via the underside of the cross bar.
Kenny Miller could of made it 2-0 to the home side 5 minutes later when he got on the end of Seol’s cross, luckily for Town Davis was on hand to smoother the shot.
The Korean striker was at the heart of almost everything Wolves had going forward and nearly got on the scoresheet himself when he curled an effort in towards Davis’ near post which was stopped, soon after Seyi George Olofinjana was also denied a goal by Davis.
Wolves finally got the second goal they had been so close to getting on 22 minutes when Cameron’s cross was met by Carl Cort for a simple tap in. From the restart Town came close to getting a goal back when Westlake’s thunderous volley beat Michael Oakes in the wolves goal only to hit the bar.
Jim Magilton sent a free kick just wide with 5 minutes of the first half still remaining and Shefki Kuqi hit the outside of the post.
With things not going to plan at half time Joe Royle replaced Matt Richards and Shefki Kuqi with Darren Currie and James Scowcroft coming on their place, while Glen Hoddle replaced Cort with Clarke.
Town continued their good spell after the restart and Darren Bent looked certain to score when one on one with Oakes in the Wolves goal but lifted his chip over the bar and onto the back of the net.
Town continued to keep the ball well but failed to find the end product, Wolves did have the ball in the net once more before the end of the game but it was ruled out for a foul against Jason De Vos.
Davis was Town’s hero on the night pulling off a number of fine saves to keep the scoreline at 2-0 and avoid any further damage to Town’s goal difference.
Wolves dominated the game for the first half and spells in the second and fully deserved their 2-0 win although they were a bit fortunate at times with Town hitting the post and having a little bit more of the possession.
