Mathie Backs Town

Former Ipswich Town striker Alex Mathie believes Town can over take Wigan and go up as Runners up to Sunderland.

Mathie who has now retired from professional football will be pulling on a Town shirt once more when he takes on the Soccer AM badgers on Sunday at Portman Road.

Mathie: “If you look at the last two games of the season, you have to say that Ipswich have the easier run-in, you never know in football but I'm pretty confident they can win both of them and then it's just a case of seeing what Wigan do in two really tough games against Preston and Reading.

“There's still a lot of football to be played but I don't think anyone at the Club will be settling for the Play-Offs.

“I still watch Ipswich whenever I can and Joe Royle has done a really good job there. It'd be a fantastic achievement if he could get them to the Premiership.”

Mathie will of course be remembered best by Town fans for his first half hat-trick against Norwich City back in 1998.

Tickets for the Town XI Vs The Badgers cost £5 for adults and £2 for children can be brought from the ticket office, the game kicks off at 3PM with other activities starting at 12:30.
