Ipswich Town midfielder Ian Westlake could be out for three months after damaging ankle ligaments in training.

It looked at first that Ian would only be out for six weeks but a san on the injury today shows the injury could keep him out for as long as three months.

Town physio Dave Williams: “He's had an MRI scan and it's shown that he has ruptured the front of his lateral ligament in his ankle.

“The specialist has looked at it and the rest of the ligament looks reasonably intact.

“His stability isn't too compromised so the plan of action is to keep the ankle immobilised for six to eight weeks and then start building it up from there.

“At the moment he will be out for a minimum of two months but it could be 10 weeks, or even more depending on how well he progresses.

“It's not good news obviously but it's better than we feared because we thought surgery might be needed.”
