Currie: We Must Win

Ipswich Town midfielder Darren Currie believes Town must win the first East Anglian derby of the season.

Currie: “By hook or by crook, we have to win this game.

 

“Believe me, I know how much this game means to the fans and I can tell you it means the same to us players.

 

“For me, it will be the biggest derby match of my career by a million miles and I'm really looking forward to it.

 

 “I know from a footballing point of view it should be about the three points and, to an extent, maybe it is but, if we win, everything else doesn't matter.

 

“Fans will accept us playing poorly but, most of all, we have to show the determination and will-to-win against our biggest rivals.

 

“People want to see those tackles going flying in and total effort. I know that is how it should be every game but in these big derby games it is vital.

 

“It is probably the one game of the season when performance can go out the window because the result is paramount.”
