D-Day - The Oppo View

Norwich Fan Laura Holland gives Singing The Blues her views on the first East Anglian of season at Portman Road on Sunday.

So, D-day is looming, by Monday we shall know what colour East Anglia will be until the following season and, most importantly, who gets the bragging rights. Aside from that, as a Norwich fan, It is a testing time, after getting relegated brutally last season (the less said about that the better) most fans expected us to be top 6 at least, not so, and as a result, our managers future at the club has been called into question, and I can not help thinking that Sunday may be a deciding factor in Worthy’s future, a far cry from 2 seasons ago.

 

Rewind to the last derby at Carrow Road, if you will Norwich were perched prettily on top of the then division one, our players were on a high, everything was going well for the club, there was Mr Norwich himself the big man, Iwan, Huckerby was the man of the moment, and our defence was one of the best in the division, the first half did not go well for us that day and we were lucky to go in 0-0 I admit, I suppose we should of seen the warning signs then but our heads were in the clouds, the second half came, and were fluid, we were controlled and we won.

 

Now the derby is this weekend, it is not a Premiership fixture like I have hoped it would be, and neither team is doing particularly well, this may well be the dullest derby on record, but for both teams this one match could kick-start their season, for Ipswich to climb the table even higher, and for us? To get our confidence back, the relegation hang over has not gone away, and we desperately need something to stir us and give us some drive, Sunday the 18th of September is probably the most important fixture in both the teams calendars this season, for a dull derby, there is a lot riding on it.
