Jim To Keep Going

Ipswich Town skipper Jim Magilton says he wants to keep playing league football despite being in what he feels is his last year at Town.

The 36-year-old midfielder has been linked with coaching roles at Oxford and Bristol Rovers in the past but he wants to keep playing a bit longer before going into management.

 

Jim: “I feel fit and I'm as hungry for the game as I've ever been, I still get a buzz every time I walk out on to the pitch and while that remains and I feel I can make an impact in the game and on my team-mates then I shall carry on playing.

 

“It's important at this stage of my career that I do look ahead and coaching is something that interests me but for me the most important aspect still is playing and I certainly intend to be doing that next season.

 

“Terry Sheringham is playing in the Premiership at 40 odd and there are plenty of other lads turning out around the Football League at my age.

 

“This is my seventh season at Ipswich and as I have said many times, it has been the best time of my career.

 

“I'm also immensely proud to be skipper of such a wonderful club and if this does turn out to be my last year here, I'll be doing everything I can to make sure it's a successful one.”
