Preview: Town – Hull

STB brings you team news, manager previews, betting odds and the officials ahead of Towns game against Hull City tomorrow (KO 3:00pm).

Town will be without Richard Naylor who is suspended, Jay McEveley was in the squad but now that Scott Barron has been passed as fit he has been dropped, Danny Haynes is a doubt while Gavin Williams, Sam Parkin, Nicky Forster, Adam Proudlock and Jimmy Juan are all out.

 

Town manager Joe Royle: “Hull have had a good season after winning promotion last year. It amazed me that people were having a go at Peter, who has done such a fine job for the club.

 

“They have a great team ethic, they have had their moments this season and I would expect them to make a bigger push next season. They brought in Jon Parkin and he has scored a few goals and in Nicky Barmby they have a player I know extremely well.”

 

Town Squad: Scott Barron, Vemund Brekke Skard, Chris Casement, Darren Currie, Jason De Vos, Owen Garvan, Danny Haynes, Alan Lee, Jim Magilton, Dean McDonald, Lewis Price, Matt Richards, Luis Sito, Shane Supple, Ian Westlake, Fabian Wilnis.

 

Hull City have massive doubts over the fitness of Alan Roger and Stuart Elliott, but Rui Marques could make his debut.

 

Hull boss Peter Taylor: “We're all looking forward to the game. Ipswich are a well-respected team with a tremendous manager who has worked wonders wherever he has been.

 

“It will be a hard game and very different to the two we have had recently. It will probably be a bit more open, but we're away from home, under a bit less pressure and hopefully we can put in a great performance.”

 

Taylor went on to add: “I know a lot of their players. I know Jason De Vos is a great header of the ball in both boxes. They've signed Alan Lee from Cardiff and he is doing very well for them.

 

“Darren Currie is a great crosser of the ball and he has some outstanding tricks and is good at set-pieces.

 

“They also have Jim Magilton who tries to run their midfield when he gets the ball.

 

“So we know all about them, but I think that every time we play our players are getting more confident.

 

“They know we are here for the right reason and they know that we can beat these teams. That is what I am looking to do.”
