Penalty situation

Hartlepool sold the player who was the penalty taker and sice then we have yet to score one in League football. So far Hartlepool have scored 3 penalties, all in the Carling Cup and 2 of them came in a penalty shoot out.

After Tuesday nights penalty shoot-out Pools fans must be wondering why so many penalties have been missed by Pools players.

Since the beginning of the season we have missed 2 against Swindon, 1 against Walsall, 1 against MK Dons and then 3 in Tuesday nights shoot-out. So far the only 3 players have scored penalties -Joel Porter, David Foley and John Brackstone. And the question were asking is why have we missed so many penalties.

Last season Hartlepool only won 3 penalties all season so maybe we just didnt get enough practice. Maybe the players just lose their bottle when they go to take their penalty or maybe the players have watched to many England games and are starting to take penalties like the England players.

So how do you take a good penalty, some say it should be placed into the bottom corner and others say it should be smashed into the top corner.

Hopefully we can start scoring them soon as Hartlepool have won more penalties this season than any other League 2 but we have only scored 1 and that was in the Carling Cup
