Season Review: September

Hartlepool got back on track in September picking up 16 points in 7 games. September also saw Danny Wilson collect the award for manager of the month. .

August was a poor month for Pools as we only managed 2 points in the whole month. September was a slightly different affair as Pools got back on track

The month started well for Pools as our first win of the season came over Boston at the Vic with a 2-1 victory. Hartlepool then picked up another point with a goalless draw against MK Dons. The game could have been so much more as James Brown missed Pools' third penalty of the season.

Hartlepool then got back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Mansfield with second half goals from substitute Joel Porter. The unbeaten start to the month came to end with a shambolic afternoon against Shrewsbury at the Vic.
Wilson got his tactics all wrong and the players didnt seem up for it as we crashed to a 3-0 defeat.

It was about to get a whole lot better though. Hartlepool travelled to Peterbrough who were also looking for playoff places. The big talking point before the game was the referee - Phil Crossley who refereed us at Cardiff. Hartlepool played  their best football of the season and ended up winning 5-3 with 2 goals from Jon Daly.

Pools then travelled to Gimsby were we fell behind in the 16th minute before Jon Daly scored another penalty of the stroke of half time. A superb second half performance ended in Pools winning 4-1.

It was next the turn of Wrexham to try and stop Jon Daly scoring and ohh how they failed. Pools won comfortable 3-0 with Jon Daly scoring a hat-trick, which made in top scorer in League 2.

September moved Pools up into 7th in the League and promotion was back on the cards. The last week of the month saw Pools pick up the performance of the week with 12 goals in 3 games.

Danny Wilson also picked up the manager of the month award.
