Welcome Cup Break

Forget banana skins and all that - the visit of East Thurrock in the FA Cup provides manager Paul Murray with a welcome opportunity to stamp his mark on Victoria Park ...
He's made a decent start with the spirited fightback last week the highlight so far.
All that matters this season is to stay in the league, and Murray needs to get a team together which can start to move up the league.
He has made canny signings in Featherstone and Schmeltz, and is now looking to bring in 24 year old Dunston forward Scott Fenwick. If Fenwick does sign he won't be turning out against East Thurrock as he is cup- tied from the early rounds.
Tommy Miller may miss the fun of the Cup because of a thigh injury, but Matthew Bates could get the chance to impress his new boss.
If he does he'll be up against bustling Sam Higgins - the record top scorer for the non-leaguers. He thought he'd been yellow carded so often he wouldn't get his chance of cup glory, but it turns out he's only had four yellows not five. Whoever marks him can expect a bruise or two by the look of it.
