Ipswich Defender about to sign on loan?

Hartlepool United could be about to take another player on loan from Ipswich Town. Their official site is reporting that Irish Youth International Gerard Nash may come to the Vic.

Nash is apparently highly rated at Portman Road, but the Dublin-born defender has suffered knee problems that have prevented him breaking through into the first team. He did make one appearance as a substitute, as well as making the bench a few times, but then picked up a cruciate ligament injury that required reconstructive surgery.

The 6'1 defender, who can also play in midfield, had previously had to have similar surgery at the age of 16 but was attracting interest from a number of Premiership clubs before joining the Tractor Boys.

Is Nash the replacement for Neill Collins? Is he on his way at all? The Ipswich Town Official Website did of course break the news about Dean McDonald's loan move to the Vic well in advance of confirmation from Pools, so it's entirely possible. Pools are also currently plugging their SMS service too - something that in the past has often been a fore-runner to an announcement of some description. So there's a pretty strong possibility that this deal will happen.

STOP PRESS! Since publishing this article, the Ipswich Town Official Site has confirmed that Nash will be joining Pools on a month's loan.
