Levein keeps hanging on as Scotland fail again

24 hours after an emphatic defeat to Belgium which sent Scotland bottom of their World Cup group, Craig Levein is still the Scotland Manager.

Two second half goals were enough to see offScotlandlast night, but if it hadn’t been for keeper Allan McGregor the score could have been much worse, and we couldn’t have complained if the scoreline had been greater.

After the game Levein said he 100% wanted to stay as manager ofScotlandand continue the work he has undertaken. I can understand his point of view as he won’t want to miss out on a pay out when he is sacked. If he completes the work the way things have been going, we will be less than 100 ranked in the FIFA World Rankings.

There appears to have been a bit of a shift to support Levein in the media and amongst some fans. The consensus with this group is that the new manager will have the same bunch of players and will therefore not be able to do anything!

That is a bit of a strange way to look at it, considering we always hear of the managerial bounce when any manager goes out. I have already said why I would remove Levein from the post in previous articles on here.

I would also argue we had some quality players last night who were not played in the proper roles. Maloney and Commons were played out wide but with their clubs are allowed to roam and pull players out of position etc.

In three years he has failed to find a right back to replace Hutton or a centre back to replace the ineffective Berra.

I don’t think we can allow Levein a third campaign and drive us further down the rankings. It is time for a new broom to come in, and the SFA needs to leave no stone unturned worldwide to find the right man.
