Airdrie travelled to East Fife on the 10th of March and were stunned by a quick goal from Chris Duggan after only 13 minutes, Airdrie fought back and equalised through Daniel Higgins on the half our mark but it was East Fife who would have the final say when Kyle Wilkie Scored on the 92 minute. On Tuesday the 13th of March we faced Stranraer, after only 3 minutes Stranraer were awarded a penalty after a sloppy tackle and Kyle Turner slotted home. 10 minutes later referee John McKendrick awarded Airdrie with the second panalty of the game and Ryan Conroy levelled the score. Prediction League Match 23, 24, 25 & 26
Having just realised i'm four matches behind I thought it was time I caught up with the prediction league ahead of tonights rescheduled Alloa game. There is not one of us that doesn't know survival is the key this season and on the 3rd of Feb we took a step towards that when we beat Forfar away from home, a single goal separated the teams and it ws scored by Dale Carrick on the 40th minute match. Our next outing was on the road again, this time to League Leaders Raith Rovers Airdrie took the lead when Dale Carrick slotted home on the 44th minute but Raith have proven to be a team who like to come from behind and this match was to be no different, Willis Furtado got the equaliser for Raith on 63 minutes and then the winner was cored by Lewis Vaughan on 76 minutes.
Prediction League Match 21 & 22
A little catch up for the prediction league after a loss against Stranraer and a home draw against Arbroath at the weekend. Stranraer 3 vs 2 Airdrie a day of unfortunate events that utimately lead to Airdries first loss in six games Dale Carrick opened the scoring for the Diamonds before a Stephen Okoh double put Stranraer in the lead. Willis Furtado then got Airdrie back in to the match only to see Angus Beith settle the match for Stranraer and give the home time the win. Airdrie 0 - 0 Arbroath <- and that was all she wrote! That by line is probably an injustice we took a point from a team above us in the league and we got another shut out but from a fans point of view that was an awful game in crap weather.
Prediction League Game 19 & 20
Happy New Year everyone and lets hope it's more exciting that todays 0-0 draw with East Fife, but i've skipped a match and will return to todays match shortly. On Tuesday 2nd of January Airdrieonians travelled the short distance to Coatbridge to take on Albion Rovers in the local New Years derby in front of a bumper crowd.
OFF TOPIC Airdrie Live and Loud
A year ago, this week, I was in the final leg of purchasing Clarkston Miners Club after I found out it had gone to the wall. I had been looking for a suitable venue to host live music events and the club ticked all the boxes. My funding was in place, however, the day before I was due to have a site survey completed I found out the building had been broken in to and trashed. The heating system, electric cabling and even gas pipes had been ripped out leaving the hall flooded the roof collapsed and basically in one hell of a state.
Prediction League Game 16, 17 & 18 catch up.
Once again I'm playing catch up with the prediction league, three matches to review and update. Hopefully 2018 will be a little bit quieter for me and I'll be able to put a little more in to the site.
Prediction League Match 15 Airdrie 2 - 1 Forfar
Airdrie open up a six point gap between us and our opponents Forfar who sit in the relegation play off spot, a six point game indeed it was and for a change it goes in our favour.
Prediction League Match 14 East Fife 6 - 1 Airdrie
I find it very difficult writing match reports after a severe loss, I want to be constructive try to find some positives and really all I can come up with is at least it wasn't seven. When Scott Stewart scored within a minute of kick off you think it might be our day, but then East Fife took control and the rest is history :- K Wilkie (25, 51), C Duggan (29), M Lamont (39), C Kane (58) and G Hurst (79) were the scorers for East Fife.
Prediction League Game 12 - 13 catch up.
Our fight for survival in the Ladbrokes league one is certainly having it's ups and downs, I suppose it comes with having so many young players in the team that consistancy seems to be a distant dream. Last week we lost 1-0 to Alloa, this week we take the points in a healthy 2-0 win against Stranraer.
Prediction League Game 10 - 11 catch up.
Airdrie have lost one drew one since the international break, the 7-1 demolition by Arbroath and then yesterday's 2-2 draw. I'm going to skip the Arbroath game its been done to death but yesterday's match against Albion Rovers is a different matter.
