Leeds takeover continues to rumble on

The Leeds takeover saga continues to run and run....and run. 5 months have passed since we first heard that something was in the offing, and are we really any the wiser? We know that GFH are involved, and that's pretty much about it...
GFH are a Middle Eastern investment Bank. The original story was that they were fronting the bid for a small group of money men with some serious wealth. Dreams of a Man City style deal were thought of, and a fantastic trophy laden future awaited. Then it all went a bit quite....then it was off....then it was on....now? Who knows!! It looks as though GFH are no longer fronting the bid, but actually making the bid, after the original players pulled out. The issue with this is that there has long been talk of GFH having cash worries of their own - can they afford to buy the club, and then finance some much needed additions to the playing squad? GFH have a history of buying companies, streamlining them, then selling them on - is this the plan for our club? Are they speculating to accumulate? Taking a punt on us getting promoted, then sellling us on? What if we don't get promoted?
The other concern is that GFH are a business - they would expect some return for their money - does that rule out a rich benefactor, willing to lose millions to achieve a dream - would we constantly have to balance the books?
It does appear that the end is getting closer, with joint statements been issued, and tweets from GFH 'boss' David Haigh - who has been at several games recently.
You know the worst thing about this whole takeover though...I've lost interest. The early months I scoured the internet, searched message boards, searched twitter, talked it over with friends and family, and speculated none stop. These days? Sort of shrug my shoulders if anyone asks - your guess is as good as mine. The takeover could really have united the fans if done right and quick - there's an air of apathy now, and you have to worry that the feel good factor in all this has missed its chance.
As I've said before, the whole thing needs sorting - and quick - because if and when we are under new ownership, there will be a hell of a lot more questions than answers it will raise...

Hmmmm...I stopped worrying about it a long time ago..I think almost all leeds fans have too!! it's out of our hands..time to sit tight and let the big wigs sort it out..if ever!

Spot on. Most of us have lost interest. I never felt a need to follow Manchester City. This could be ruinous at the end, even though it may bring champions league and trophies. I am of the old school. I wish whoever takes over will invest well in the academy, to give us a new generation of Woodgate, Smith, Hart, et al.

After agree adsal Man city as good as they are when the cash runs out If it does then the game is over that team have cost in the regen of 800m with a los of this year £197M How long will they let that go on
We do need more marquee players but ones we can keep. When Leeds were at there very best and Im talking about the billy bremner/Alan clarke/Jack charlton/Paul reaney/Norman hunte/Peter Lorimer/Eddie Gray /Johnny Giles/Terry Cooper Days Good players every one of them but not the Best in the world.
But what they they lack in ability they sour made up for with there siege mentality. Every game was a war every player played for each other this was not just a team this was a family and Eland Road was there home not just a place of work not just some were to pick up a pay packet.
This bond is what made Leeds such a great team to watch and suport win or loose win or loose and it was not built on money alone.
This is what I would like to see again instant success means nothing if it's not sustainable.
Right now I believe we have if given the tools a maniger that can bild such a team again old school somthing the younger end of our supporters have never had the privilege to experience and if this takes 4-5-6 years to achieve so be it.
It would be well worth the wait Believe me I've seen it first hand

Neither would I have swapped Norman for anyone. And I do mean anyone.

George Best/Eusébio /Johan Cruyff/Michel Platini/Bobby Moore/and lets not forget the grate Pele
outstanding Players Im sure you will agree not taken anything away from Bremner/Giles or hunte

Tell you where i am at as Duncan bannatyne would say.
I am at the stage i would rather Bates stay then have GFH take over . We are now in a better position than when Bates took control and that will do at the moment until we find owners that want the club and that for me is not GFH .

Just to add t1og the players you mentioned outplayed the likes of Best ,Moore and when they met in Europe Cruyff on a regular basis but just remember we never the nations "Darlings" just go back over the footage and Revies boys were in the same class and on occasions a cut above alot of the perceived "Greats" Brazillians and Eusabio aside.

Fair enough mate.
Still think that Billy and Johnny were as good as anything listed there - greats though they were. Giles could do anything and more than any of his contemporaries IMO. Billy was just Billy. Could do owt.
Agree that "any other Pisces may not have fit" - but wonder if a Scorpio or a Gemini would have fared any better?

The point I was trying to put across was the team had hart fight and a togetherness I have not seen since and it was that that made them what they were.A joy to watch

I think we will have new owners before xmas frustration as started to set in and things have drawn on a bit but Im confident we will be in new hands befor xmas!!!

Willow, I whole heartedly agree with you about Bremner, Giles and Hunter. I remember when Leeds played Barcelona in the semi-final of the European Cup, the predecessor of the Champions League Cup. In a radio interview, Revie, who was England manager at the time, was asked how would Leeds cope with Cruyff. He said: "You will not see him. Leeds will assign Madeley to mark him and you will not see Cruyff." This was the first leg in Spain. We won 1-0 and the goal was scored early in the first half by Lorimer.

first leg was at ER and we won 2-1. Second leg in Bernabeau was a 1-1 draw , Lorimer did score early doors in Spain then the seige of the Alamo followed with McQueen sent off...I was there!!
