Leeds bounced back from last weeks defeat to Derby with a solid, if unspectacular win over Ipswich on Saturday.Ipswich had been struggling early season, but Mick McCarthy replacing Paul Jewell has lifted the club, who are on a fine run of form.  Leeds, despite that defeat to Derby, had won their previous 3 games, so it was always going to be a tight affair.Leeds started the brighter, with El Hadj-Diouf, fresh from signing an 18 month contract, pulling the strings.  The hope side went ahead when Diouf's corner was flicked on by Tom Lees - Jerome Thomas' flick 5 yards out, diverting the ball home. 

the rest of the half was lacking in quality, as both sides produiced workmanlike performances.  Leeds should have doubled their lead though - Lucciano Becchio's shocking header from 6 yards was far easier to score than miss, but the Argentinian striker was way off target.

The second half was more of the same, with very little to choose between the teams.  Ipswich pressed, but lacked quality in the final third, as the Leeds defence was largely untroubled.  Leeds eventually got a second - Paul Green's fine finish after Thomas' low pass effectively sealed the game.

The second goal did galvanise the visitors, and keeper Paddy Kenny had to make a couple of smart saves.  The game finished 2-0, and boss Neil Warnock will be delighted firstly with the 3 points, but also with a rare clean sheet.

Next game up is the visit of Chelsea in the cup on Wednesday.
