Well with the news that Simon Grayson has officially left the club we thought we'd discuss the options available and names that have been touted for the job by the press. So it's time to look ahead and see whats about and whats available. Time to look ahead and move on, oh and time to let the speculation begin!
Ian Holloway
We'll start with Ian Holloway, Holloway is a popular manager who is famous for his quirky and comical statements he's made in the past. He was voted the 15th in a poll of funniest Londoners and has done lots of work for death charities in raising awareness for death issues.
He currently lives in St Albans which would mean moving further up north if to be a realistic contender for the job. But let's not forget he took over both QPR and Leicester mid-way through a season, only to see them relegated. His win rate is just 21% as a manger which is far from impressive, although he is available for nothing!
Paul Ince
Paul Ince was a world beater as a player, Playing for Man United, Liverpool, Inter-Milan, England and more. He was a very high profile player and has done well as manager. He has a 47.7% win rate, Avoiding relegation at Macclesfield was considered mission impossible. However he kept them up, He then went onto manage MK Dons.
There he won the Football League Trophy and his side was crowned the champions of League Two that year. His double success won him the Blackburn job where things went down hill. He won just three in seventeen and left following a massive out campaign by the fans. He lasted just six months in the job and it's unsure id he'll want to return to football almost straight away. He is a free agent and would be a good appointment.
Aidy Boothroyd
Boothroyd has coached at Leeds, Norwich and Peterborough as well as managing Watford where he not only got them promoted to the premier league but also had a 36% win rate. It's unknown if he will have to move to support the job full time although it's likely. He's won numerous manager of the month awards and is one the countries most highly rate young managers. Available on a free he would be a good acquisition.
Danny Wilson
Another free agent who is reported to be keen to get back into management and may be willing to take the Bloomfield Road hot-seat. He has a near 40% win rate and has managed five teams. Including Barnsley who he took to the premier league, He saved MK Dons from relegation twice and promotion at Hartlepool. It's an impressive CV but has he been away from the top two tiers of English football for too long? I bet he could still do a job and is available on a free.
